Episode 29

"Alright, let's start the game now."

[Executing Dawn of the Assassins.]

A notification sound rings out.

The world sinks into darkness.

Seojun woke up in the marketplace.

"Let's get going now."

Where to?

To the Assassins' hideout.

"Hey, try some of this fresh fruit."

"Hey! Don't block the way—move! I’m in a hurry."

"Mister, please buy me just one candy."

Seojun made his way through the market toward the Sun Tavern.

It was a place he’d never visited before completing the tutorial and catching Matapju, but for the past few days, he’d been stopping by daily.

-Yep, same as always today

-Their backs look lame lol

-They suck at getting things done

"I admit it. These guys are terrible at their jobs."

Seojun entered the Sun Tavern and naturally headed to the kitchen.

Then he opened and entered a secret passage in the floor.

It was the Assassins’ secret hideout, accessible only after achieving a certain reputation level from assassinations.

"No-Name, what brings you here? Need a mission?"

-If we take missions we can’t get Fragments of Order, right? We shouldn’t take missions lol

-For real, I don’t know why, but people who barely caught a Dominator were crying

-They barely caught it but it didn’t drop, so they rage quit lolol

Multiple options appeared before Seojun.

He selected one of them.

"I want to deal with the Dominator now."

"Sorry. It’s too early for that. We’re not fully prepared yet."

-They’re doing this again lololol

-Looks like they’ll never be prepared

-Honestly, if this were real life, the leader would be heartless. How can you finish everything in just days?

-But this is a game

-Don’t tell me we’re not catching the Queen today because of this?

Christina gave the same answer she had for days.

"Well, nothing we can do about it then."

Seojun nodded his head.

-No!

-You weren’t like this before

-Are you listening?

"Guess I’ll just have to catch it myself. Did you really think I’d wait?"

He grinned and pulled out a sword from his inventory.

It was a sword he’d bought at considerable cost from the Assassins’ exclusive shop.

-lololololol

-That’s our leader for you

-Wait, if you were gonna do this, why didn’t you catch it before?

"Why didn’t I catch it before? Just because. The more you guys asked me to catch it, the less I felt like doing it."

Truthfully, it was because of a contract, but he didn’t say that.

There was no confidentiality clause, but since they’d asked him to keep it secret if possible...

Seojun generally kept his promises when asked properly.

-Damn it, are you being contrary on purpose?

"Haa. Please don’t swear."

-This streamer does the opposite lololol

-A streamer who doesn’t get swayed by viewers!

-The epitome of stubbornness

"Come on. Where else would you find a streamer who communicates as well as me?"

Seojun left the flood of question marks behind and exited the Sun Tavern. Checking the map, he headed toward the city center where the palace stood.

He was terrible with machines, but thankfully not with directions.

"Now, everyone, tell me about the palace."

Seojun casually asked his viewers for in-game information as he walked.

As if it were the most natural thing in the world.

-You’re leaving it to us?

-Please do some prep work lolololol

-Don’t you see this is Professor Seojun’s grand plan to make us review the material?

"Just kidding. I actually looked into it a bit myself."

-Oh? Since when?

-Haa, it’s more fun when the leader gets caught off guard by what he doesn’t know

-And it’s cool how he casually deflects it

Seojun moved across rooftops.

This was the easiest way.

In the distance, the opulent palace at the city’s center came into view.

Alberc Palace—160 meters in frontage, 32 meters tall, four floors housing 1,015 rooms, 2,038 doors, and 825 windows.

Seojun’s eyes took in the Queen’s outdoor gallery surrounding Alberc, the massive lake, and Alteon’s largest garden.

"...And they say over 1,000 servants work there, with 300 guards called the Royal Guard. Between the windows and all this, the user who manually placed everything seems more impressive than the palace itself."

-For real lol

-Impressive in multiple ways lolololol

-Time billionaire

-Time Bill Gates lololol

Seojun descended from the high building’s rooftop.

He walked toward Alburk.

As he got closer to the palace, he noticed more guards around.

While making small talk, a donation alert rang out.

[User 'LoadedDice' donated ₩10,000!]

[Seojun, do you accept missions?]

Seojun stopped walking and said:

"Thank you for the donation, LoadedDice. What's the mission?"

-(Streamer's inner thoughts) How much did this viewer research before coming?

-Can't resist missions

-(Typical Seoul guy) Weak to money

After a brief wait, another donation arrived.

[User 'LoadedDice' donated ₩300,000!]

[Please assassinate the queen through stealth! I want to see Seojun infiltrate!]

-Whoa, 300k at once!

-Why donate first and ask later? LMAOOOO

-Just throw money and the streamer'll do the mission

-But the streamer doing assassination? Might be fun to watch haha

-What nonsense. What about the Fragment of Order? Shouldn't accept this.

Various opinions about the mission flooded the chat.

Stealth and assassination.

A playstyle Seojun had never attempted.

'This could be fun.'

The donor seemed to be the viewer who'd debated starting Assassin's Dawn earlier.

Probably wanted to see stealth gameplay.

[User 'LoadedDice' donated ₩100,000!]

[Ah, forgot about the Fragment of Order! Canceling mission. No refund needed.]

-Wow, big spender!

-Even canceling costs 100k?

-Is that the same guy? I’d buy games with that cash lol

After a pause, Seojun declared:

"Not sure if it'll work, but let’s try. We’ll just wake her before the killing blow."

Wouldn’t that trigger a massacre?

Whether alarms wake her or an intruder does, it’s fundamentally the same.

"Gotta earn our pay. If it fails, we die and go berserk."

-A true streamer

-Who even plays like this HAHAHAHA

-Oh! Thanks!

After reading LoadedDice’s chat, Seojun plotted his approach.

In this game with infinite stealth options, palace infiltration methods varied:

Sneak past Royal Guards, steal a ball invitation, or befriend nobles for access.

The immediate plan:

"Guess we’ll brute-force it. Need palace blueprints for assassination prep."

Using a signal stone to contact Christina, Seojun headed to the nearest Assassin hideout—another tavern-fronted base.

He entered through the kitchen’s secret passage and sat before a hooded figure.

"Beware lest chaos consume you. True chaos does not destroy order."

This area’s assigned Assassin.

"Brother, what brings you? Heh heh heh."

[--> Trade items]

[--> Converse]

Options appeared—one for equipment, the other for idle chatter.

Seojun selected trade.

"I’d like to trade."

"Good. Brought sufficient funds, brother?"

The interface materialized. Scrolling through blueprints, Seojun found:

[Alburk Palace Blueprint]

[700 Assassin Reputation] [Exchange]

[3,000 Gold] [Exchange]

Among the priciest items, but Seojun had ample resources:

[Assassin Reputation - 3,427]

[Gold - 10,000]

His reputation stemmed from eliminating three rulers—even with reduced rewards from skipping missions.

His gold?

-Rich…

-Should I pickpocket too?

-"30 minutes daily, I’ll get you property" – Seojun

At 1,000 gold for top-tier weapons, 10k was staggering.

Mostly earned through minigames, not theft.

"Enough jokes. I’ll use reputation."

Seojun pressed [Exchange].

"Thanks, Nameless. Come again next time."

The merchant seemed thrilled after selling an expensive item.

Is this guy an assassin or a merchant?

Seo-jun gave the NPC a dubious look before stepping outside.

"Alright, let's get going then."

He approached Albrook Palace.

A different scene unfolded before him now.

Having obtained the blueprint, the palace's layout appeared on his radar-like display.

"Oh, so this item exists."

-Boss didn't know this feature existed after a week of playing lol

-How's that new tech treating you?

-If you buy thermal goggles, you can see enemy positions too. What do you think?

Seo-jun stood before the palace gates.

Royal Guards stood watch at their posts.

"Thermal goggles? Nah. What's so hard about infiltration?"

-LOL can he back up that talk?

-Karma incoming

-No way he'll actually assassinate successfully

-He'll get caught a few times, go berserk, and end up slaughtering everyone

"Alright, here I go."

The moment the patrolling soldier glanced away, Seo-jun vaulted over the iron bars with a light movement.

The Queen's outdoor gallery appeared immediately after clearing the fence.

The other side had an open park and natural lake, making this the best approach to the palace interior.

Seo-jun focused on sounds.

The Royal Guards patrolled every corner of Albrook after all.

Crunch crunch

Moving away from the sound's origin, he advanced forward.

Knowing the structure meant he wouldn't get lost.

Another thing to watch for were the snipers on Albrook's rooftops.

Keeping low, Seo-jun exited the gallery and scaled the outer wall to the second-floor balcony to catch his breath.

"Hmm. This is kinda easy."

-It's just beginning LOL

-Don't get cocky

Albrook Palace consisted of multiple maze-like interconnected buildings due to repeated expansions throughout history.

And reaching the Queen's chambers at the very center without detection was no simple task.

Seo-jun pressed his ear against a window.

Someone's sleeping breaths could be heard inside.

"Not here."

He climbed the wall again searching for an empty guest room.

"This one's empty."

Carefully opening the balcony door, he slipped inside.

-LOLOLOL

-RIP

-This is why stealth is hard

-Tried being quiet but still too loud

The viewers were laughing. Why?

Seo-jun immediately understood.

"What was that noise?"

A man's voice came from behind the guest room door. Caught by a Royal Guard.

Click

The sound of a doorknob turning from the other side.

-Hide under bed

-Closet now!

-Won't matter. Palace assassinations are BS

-They're already alert. These NPCs go cautious at slightest noise

'Alert status' was common in stealth games where NPCs would search for noise sources before raising alarms—failure if undetected too long. Reading chat, Seo-jun instantly assessed: hiding or fleeing wouldn't work now.

'Guess difficulty is high after all.'

Then...

Creeeak

-Busted

-First fail LOL

-Told ya stealth was BS

As the door opened, Seo-jun drew a dagger from his inventory with instinctive speed and threw it when half-open.

Thunk

The guard collapsed with a choked gasp.

"Wait... this works? Stealth kills are easy?" he chuckled like he'd never been nervous.

-Dude actually thought to throw dagger mid-door opening?! MAD LOL

-Another rampage incoming

-Stop killing and sneak properly smh

-THIS COUNTS AS STEALTH?!

Dawn Assassins had 'ambush judgment' mechanics: killing enemies unaware in one hit (common in stealth games). Key point: the guard died instantly, meaning...

"But you didn't see me, right?"

-AHAHAHAHA

-But was fast tho LOL

-Ambush judgment triggered so technically stealth kill

-Enemy didn't even know = stealth not rampage

-Pro tip: When NPCs enter alert mode, just hit vitals before detection

-FYI: Killing during stealth IS valid playstyle but THAT wasn't normal stealth LOL
