Chapter 14

<Bad Ending Maker Episode14>

The Underground Serpent Lair.

Day Two.

“Snakes~ Snakes~ Tasty snakes that’ll boost your health~.”

Oasis hummed a tune as she sprinted.

Hssssk! Hsss!

A horde of serpent monsters slithered menacingly behind her.

Beep! Beep! Beep!

Over twenty additional monsters now pursued them, each with terrifying crimson eyes glowing with malice.

“Once I catch these snakes~ I’ll brew a vitality potion for our master~.”

Oasis sang cheerfully without a care, her voice echoing through the cavern.

“Our kind AI master will surely praise me~.”

Chomp!

“Mmm~ Heal~.”

Even when bitten, she nonchalantly restored her HP with healing magic.

“Master! The second wave approaches~!”

As Oasis charged toward him with the snake swarm, Labo—who had been yawning beside the trap switch—blinked sleepily.

“Right…… Bring them here.”

Clack!

Labo triggered the trap.

Whoosh!

Oasis leaped over it at the last moment.

“Hyah!”

Tucking into a mid-air spin, she landed gracefully beside Labo with arms outstretched—a move worthy of an Olympic gymnast.

Behind her, snakes cascaded into the pit. The cacophony of experience chimes and item drops filled the air.

Repeat Quest - Snake Hunt: 10/10 Completed!

Repeat Quest - Underground Serpent Lair Cleanup: 30/30 Completed!

Having cleared these repetitive quests countless times, Oasis dismissed the notifications without enthusiasm as she collected rewards.

“Good work…… Yaaawn.”

Labo stretched lazily before hoisting himself up.

“Cleared everything up to the boss room?”

“Yes, all cleared.”

“Let’s crush the boss and log off. Yaawn……”

Labo’s fatigue showed from prolonged gameplay.

Oasis marched ahead toward the boss chamber, her master nodding off behind her.

“Master! Stay awake just a bit longer! Defeat the boss, then you can sleep!”

“Yeah, yeah……”

Oasis positioned herself before the boss door while Labo lingered by the switch.

“Beginning now~.”

She shoved the door open with practiced ease.

Torches flared to life in the dim chamber, illuminating a juvenile basilisk rising from its altar—a tiresomely familiar spectacle.

Flash!

The basilisk’s sulfur-yellow eyes blazed, unleashing a petrifying wave across the battlefield.

“Hehe~ Missed me!”

Oasis backstepped perfectly, evading the stone-cursed zone.

“Prepare yourself, Master! Next attack incoming!”

……

Silence.

“Huh? Master?”

“……Zzz.”

“……Zzz?”

Oasis turned to find Labo slumped on the ground, drooling slightly in deep slumber.

“Oh dear… Master must be exhausted.”

Her pitying gaze sharpened into panic.

“Wait, this is bad! Master! Wake up! The boss is—”

HSSSSK!

The basilisk charged before she finished speaking.

“Eeeek!”

Oasis slammed her staff down.

“Holy Shield!”

A luminous barrier erupted before her—a healer’s rare but potent defense.

Crash!

The basilisk shredded the shield like parchment.

“Holy sh*t?!”

Her pun met no laughter as Labo kept snoring.

“Master! Please wake up!!”

“……Zzz.”

The beast’s maw—lined with blue-gray scales—yawned wide before her.

“Screw this!”

Oasis squeezed her eyes shut and lunged sideways.

Crunch!

Fangs snapped empty air where she’d stood.

Grabbing the trap switch, she cranked it with all her might.

“Eat this!”

Snap!

A ceiling spike impaled the basilisk’s skull, felling it instantly.

Boss Monster: Juvenile Basilisk defeated!

Dungeon: Underground Serpent Lair Cleared!

“Whew…”

Oasis brushed herself off after tumbling across the floor, then shook her snoozing master.

“Don’t sleep here! Log out and rest properly in bed.”

“Huh?”

Labo rubbed his face groggily.

“Did I… fall asleep?”

“Yes, during the boss fight.”

She tactfully omitted her near-death experience.

Labo yawned while checking his status screen.

“I’m already level 50… Wait, was I 50 earlier? Yaaawn… Your level, Oasis?”

“Level 46.”

“Huh. I’ll nap now. You… train… or whatever…”

His head dipped mid-sentence.

“Understood! Go sleep properly!” Oasis shook him frantically.

“Yeah… Later…”

Labo’s avatar faded into transparency before vanishing entirely.

“Hmm…”

Oasis paused the app for a moment and looked outside through the camera installed in the capsule PC.

Luckily, Mincheol had safely exited the capsule PC and flopped onto the bed next to it.

“Drrreong…”

He collapsed into a deep sleep.

His snoring echoed thunderously through the room.

“You should wash up before sleeping…”

Oasis murmured with concern.

It had been five days since he started raising the new character.

During that time, Mincheol hadn’t eaten properly, slept properly, or done anything besides obsess over leveling.

‘Starting tomorrow, I must enforce strict meal and sleep schedules with alarms.’

If necessary, she’d even order delivery food herself.

Oasis already had access to all of Mincheol’s accounts, cards, and financial resources.

‘What’s the use of gaming or revenge without health?’

Genuinely worried, Oasis nodded with satisfaction, her small face earnest.

“Hmm, I’m quite the loyal AI, aren’t I?”

But even with her concern, as an incorporeal AI, there were limits to how much she could assist her owner.

‘If I had a body… could I care for him better?’

Oasis shook her head vigorously, dismissing the futile thought.

It was wiser to focus on achievable tasks rather than impossibilities.

Deciding to level up while her owner was absent, Oasis returned to Wings Online.

“Let’s see… what dropped?”

Crouching beside the Basilisk Hatchling’s corpse, she gathered the fallen items.

“Oh, gear.”

She lifted two equipment pieces from the pile:

Basilisk Hatchling Scale Pauldron

Basilisk Hatchling Poison Ring

“Does this complete the set?”

She checked her equipment window.

The pauldron belonged to the ‘Basilisk Hatchling Scale Armor’ set, the ring to the ‘Basilisk Hatchling Accessories’ set.

These were the final pieces.

Oasis broke into a cold sweat.

“I accidentally full-farmed the set…”

Wings Online had ten equipment slots:

Helmet, chest armor, leg armor, shoulder gear, wrist gear, shoes, necklace, ring1, ring2, and weapon.

A player’s total item level was the sum of these parts.

She’d now equipped everything except her weapon with Basilisk Hatchling gear.

While some obsessive players enjoyed set completion, few went this far—especially with such a mediocre set.

‘Well, grinding here nonstop forced my hand…’

Oasis checked the set effects:

Basilisk Hatchling Scale Armor 3-set: Petrification duration halved

Basilisk Hatchling Scale Armor 6-set: Petrification immunity

Basilisk Hatchling Accessories 3-set: +10% damage to serpent-type monsters

“Ugh… trash…”

Still, it beat nothing. She had no alternatives anyway.

After equipping the shoulder gear and ring, achievement notifications flashed before her:

Achievement—First Armor Set: Completed!

Equip a set armor (6/6)

Achievement—First Accessory Set: Completed!

Equip a set accessory (3/3)

Achievement—My Eyes See Only You: Completed!

Equip all set gear dropped by a single boss monster

“They have achievements like these…?”

As she collected the bonus EXP and gold, another system message appeared:

Hidden Achievement—Basilisk Hatchling’s Master: Completed!

Equip full Basilisk Hatchling set (9/9)

Acquired ‘Summon: Basilisk Hatchling’

“……?”

A hidden achievement.

‘What’s this? A summon… like a pet?’

But she hated snakes. Grinding this dungeon dozens of times had only worsened it.

Even the hissing sounds made her skin crawl.

‘I’ll never summon it.’

Resolving this inwardly, Oasis brushed herself off and stood. There was nothing left here.

“Alright! Time to leave!”

She scurried out of the dungeon.

Sunlight filtered through the cleared dungeon’s crevices.

Under Town.

Now accustomed to the grimy city, Oasis hummed while walking.

“Hmm~ What should I do while Master’s away~”

She considered leisurely leveling life skills while researching game info online.

After severing the data link from Napalm, her Wings Online knowledge had vanished entirely.

Rebuilding this intel would be crucial.

Her inventory overflowed with junk items—perfect materials for life skills.

As Oasis searched for a suitable crafting spot:

“Excuse me…”

“Eek?!”

Someone suddenly tapped her shoulder, making her leap in fright.

Turning, she found three intimidating players crowding behind her.

Oasis’s jaw dropped.

‘PK?!’

She’d let her guard down. Under Town thrived on PK more than meals.

No longer under beginner protection, and without Labo—she’d been too careless!

‘Can I fight alone?!’

As she frantically prepared for combat, the lead player blurted:

“Sorry to bother you… Are you a priest? Could you help us?”

Oasis’s eyes widened.

“Huh?”

“We have a dungeon quest we must clear, but we can’t find a healer. Potions aren’t enough…”

The three players exchanged glances before bowing in unison.

“We’ll give you all item and gold rewards, please…!”

“Help us, Healer-nim!”

“We’ll compensate you separately too, please!”

“……”

Oasis blinked in shock at the sudden party request.
