Chapter 68: Beast Emperor Level?
Chen Fan walked into the warehouse, his gaze falling on the second bow.
This bow stood nearly as tall as himself, its bronze-colored frame gleaming under the light. The taut bowstring left no doubt that drawing it would require immense strength.
His eyes shifted rightward to the final bow.
This weapon stretched nearly two meters long, its entire structure - from ebony limbs to obsidian string - radiating lethal solemnity.
"Don't even look at that one." A voice sounded from the doorway. Chen Fan turned to see Zhang Ren limping inside. "Though you've reached the third tempering stage, you're not ready for this 300-jin bow. The 200-jin model suits you better."
"Hmm." Chen Fan acknowledged before curiosity overcame him. "Uncle Zhang, how powerful is this 200-jin bow?"
Zhang Ren's eyes narrowed as he uttered two deliberate words: "Extremely lethal."
"Extremely lethal?"
Chen Fan echoed, thinking to himself that obvious, but wanting concrete details.
Zhang Ren pierced through his unspoken question. "Your first hunting trip encountered an Ironclad Rhino, correct?"
Chen Fan nodded, recalling the oppressive aura that had radiated from the beast hundreds of meters away. Their second encounter had left him itching to try his 100-jin bow against the creature.
"Had you used this 200-jin bow then," Zhang Ren continued, "a single headshot within 100 meters would have killed it instantly."
"O-one arrow? Instant kill?"
Chen Fan's eyes widened. The creature rivaled heavy trucks in size, weighing multiple tons.
"Precisely." Zhang Ren locked gazes with him. "The Ironclad Rhino tops the mid-level beasts. Its scaled armor rivals light vehicle plating. Even assault rifles barely scratch it - only provoking its fury. Know what speed an enraged rhino reaches?"
"How fast?" Chen Fan asked, dread pooling in his stomach.
"Thirty meters per second."
"Th-thirty meters...?"
Chen Fan's mind reeled. Ordinary humans sprinted 6-7 m/s - 10 agility points. His current 32-point agility granted 20 m/s speed. Yet this lumbering beast could outpace him?
Cold sweat drenched his back. Thank the heavens he'd shown restraint - neither he nor his father's group could have outrun that charge.
"Now you understand their avoidance tactics." Zhang Ren nodded. "But remember - most mid-level beasts fall to assault rifles. Only exceptions like the rhino require sniper rifles or heavy machine guns."
Chen Fan's eyes sparked. "So this bow's arrows match sniper rifle power?"
"Comparably." Zhang Ren stroked his chin. "A sniper bullet bisects humans at kilometer ranges, pierces 3cm steel within 100 meters - this bow achieves similar penetration. At 500 meters, it rivals military rifles."
Chen Fan stared at the wall-mounted bow. Had he truly grown this strong? If 200-jin power rivaled sniper rifles, what might the 300-jin model achieve - anti-material cannon status?
"Don't celebrate yet." Zhang Ren's voice turned icy. "Two requirements for rhino kills: sub-100 meter range and vital strikes. Fail either, you'll only enrage it. Three seconds to cover 100 meters - imagine two tons of charging fury impacting your body."
Chen Fan grimaced. Two tons would pulp flesh or crumple trucks. Though firing another arrow during charge might work, who could maintain such composure?
"Uncle Zhang," he ventured, "wouldn't machine guns be safer? Just fill the beast with lead?"
"Simpler said than done." Zhang Ren snorted. "Approaching within 200 meters unnoticed? Once provoked, even weaponless martial artists struggle escaping. Regular gunners stand no chance. Firearms can kill mid-level beasts, but never easily."
"This is merely mid-level. High-level beasts..." The older man's voice thickened with dread.
"Their speed?" Chen Fan guessed.
"Approaching 100 m/s."
Chen Fan inhaled sharply. Double mid-tier speed, armor surpassing heavy vehicles. Such creatures could obliterate not just their village, but even Zhao and Song Family strongholds.
A terrifying realization struck. "Uncle Zhang... are high-level beasts considered mediocre in the hierarchy?"
After weighted silence, Zhang Ren nodded. "Beyond them lie Elite, Commander, King, and the ultimate Beast Emperor tiers."
"Beast Emperor?"
"Even the weakest Emperor-tier strike equals medium-range missiles carrying half-ton payloads - enough to flatten city blocks with tens of thousands. Full-power attacks match 400,000-ton explosives... nuclear equivalents. This destroyed most cities a decade ago."
Chen Fan stood speechless, the revelation freezing his thoughts.
